At K/O Lodge we believe
that if you use the absolute best, you will never be disappointed! In
keeping with this ideology, when fishing the larger bodies of water (especially
the Ottawa River) we depend on Lund bass boats with Mercury/Mariner outboards! Our fleet consists of 16' Mr. Pike model Lunds (right) matched
with 30 hp outboards for two people and 17' Outfitter model Lunds matched with
four-stroke 50hp outboards for a groups of three. Both models have great
features such as console steering, electric start, power tilt/trim, flat floors,
pedestal seating, live well and electric trolling motors for working those
tight, rewarding shorelines.
At our marina on the
Ottawa River, heading out is as simple as grabbing your gear, jumping in your
boat and tossing off the lines. Your boat will be gassed up and ready to
go when ever you are. Our section of the Ottawa River is 65 square miles,
is just over a mile wide where our marina is, and has depths approaching 300
feet in places. The Ottawa River has absolutely no commercial boat
traffic, very little pleasure boat traffic or fishing pressure and offers
anglers a chance to catch a wide variety of fish (and in great numbers).
Bass, Pike, Walleye, Musky, Sturgeon and Channel Cats are all waiting for your
fishing enjoyment. Our marina is located about a seven minute drive
from the main lodge and has a variety of live bait and tackle available for
those who wish it.
At the main lodge we
have a small fleet of Outlaw Grumman flat-bottom boats. These are
available to all our registered guests on a first come, first serve basis (more
often than not you will have three or four to choose from). Our home lake
is approximately 200 acres and is catch and release only. To preserve the
serenity, peace & quiet of our pristine natural surroundings, no gas motors
are permitted to be run on this lake. Guests bringing up their own boat
(which is a 20% discount off our package rates) are welcome to launch their boat
at our concrete ramp and fish the home lake. Several peddle-boats and
canoes are also kept at the home lake for your enjoyment.
It's early morning and
daylight is just breaking over the horizon. The first rays illuminate the
morning mist still dancing over the mirror surface of the water. As you
quietly slip the bow of your canoe into the water, the tranquility of the
morning is shattered by an enormous splash. You turn quickly to see a
small mouth disappearing beneath the surface leaving only ripples as testament
that it was ever there. Your heart already pounding, you grab your readied
rod and throw your favorite Zara Spook. As your ripples fade you give a
few twitches and wait. The water erupts and the sound of your drag cuts
through the still morning air. The first fight of the day is on!
Everything you need
for adventures like these is included in your package at the K/O Lodge. A few of the
lakes in our area have good ramps and can
launch our big Lund bass boats. All you need is a 1 & 7/8 inch trailer
ball to hook up to one of our boat trailers and off you go. Most remote lakes,
however, will require the use of a canoe or a small v-bottom aluminum boat (we
have several of both). We have the foam pads, tie downs, etc. for the
canoes and the small trailers for the v-bottom boats you'll
need to get you to where you want to be. Over the
course of our 2002 season, we fished approximately 35 of the 75 lakes within an
hour or so of the lodge. We can put you on a different lake each day of
your trip and pretty much guarantee that you'll have it all to yourself!
